We’re excited to unveil lakeFS 1.59.0, a release that brings a completely revamped user interface designed to make your data versioning experience more intuitive, elegant, and productive. Whether you’re a seasoned lakeFS user or just getting started, the new UI makes navigating your data repositories smoother, more informative, and, dare we say – delightful!
A Modern, Lightweight Look and Feel
The first thing you’ll notice is the visual polish: cleaner layouts, lighter components, and improved typography across the board. The interface now feels more modern, reducing visual clutter while improving readability and focus. This updated aesthetic applies to both light and dark modes, offering better legibility and a more cohesive experience across the platform.

A Smarter Repository Overview
Your repositories are now easier to scan and understand. The updated repository listing screen provides enhanced metadata at a glance, so you can quickly grasp what each repository contains and its current state. Whether you’re managing a handful of repos or hundreds, the UI now better supports discovery and management at scale.

Friendlier Onboarding for New Repositories
Getting started with a new repo? The new empty state screen walks you through your first steps with contextual guidance and calls to action—whether you’re uploading files or importing existing data from object stores. It’s like having a helpful onboarding buddy, right in the UI.

Drag-and-Drop – Now with Renaming!
We’ve significantly upgraded the file upload experience. You can still drag and drop multiple files with ease, but now you can also rename individual files before upload. This adds flexibility while maintaining the simplicity that makes lakeFS approachable for teams of all sizes.

Tables That Actually Look Like Tables
For structured file types like Parquet and CSV, the file viewer now offers an improved table display. See your data rendered cleanly in a familiar tabular format, making it easier to inspect and verify structured content without needing to pull it into a separate tool.

???? Try It Out Today

Happy branching!
